My name is Heather Gilson and I am photographer who loves manual focus, shallow depth of field and composing in a square. I live for beautiful mistakes, frozen fractions of seconds, and a subject who will stare me down. My husband Jon Almeda is an amazing ceramic artist, talented musician and an inspiring photographer. We make a wonderful team shooting weddings together. We love the exciting energy of weddings and flourish in the middle of all the action. We live near Seattle but enjoy capturing sweet love birds all over the map.
With over twelve years of experience we have refined an unobtrusive, creative style of shooting. Staying true to our artistic spirits, we capture weddings using a combination of cool cameras and fun techniques. Besides using high quality pro Canon digital gear, we also shoot with a Hasselblad medium format film camera, homemade custom lenses and even a couple plastic toy cameras. Images shot with our special film cameras and lenses have their own look and feel. Some produce beautiful vignettes, some are square, and some make things soft and dreamy. Our images are unique because they combine the style and sensibility of today's generation with yesterday's vintage look and feel.
We have an uncompromising artistic style and move in the opposite direction of cliche wedding photography. Which means we won't make the groom "dip" the bride, or put you through a mock fashion shoot. We won't put the bride's veil over the grooms head and we definitely won't make the wedding party all jump at the same time. Our main goal is to create untraditional photographs of your family and friends being their fabulous selves. To capture your natural true love on your wedding day with a funky artistic twist.

All of our packages include: 2 photographers (us of course)! All our old school film cameras and homemade lenses for our signature vintage look. Unlimited medium format film and high resolution scans (which isn't common or cheap these days)! Images carefully color corrected and loaded into an online gallery for one year. And a high resolution DVD of all your edited photographs.
Our wedding packages are simple and straight froward. Our local rates for the greater Seattle area range from $2,900-5,800. Packages vary depending on shooting time, artistic edits and print options. Classic vintage photo albums, Couture photo books and handmade Cypress Albums are available as add ons from $800-$2,500. Please contact us for a detailed list. We have a few openings left for 2009 and are now booking 2010 weddings. Please include your wedding date and location in your message so I can check our calendar. The focus of my portrait work is to capture your true life. To approach family portraits in a natural documentary style without worrying about matching shirts or perfectly combed hair. Together as parents and photographer we can relish in the beauty of ordinary living. To photograph children with messy hair as they wake from a nap, to capture smiles as they build an afternoon fort and sit next to them as they grasp huge crayons and color. This approach to photography takes trust, time and patience. Most sessions last between 2-4 hours and are at your home or a location of your choice.

I have been sitting at the desk at the shop crying, laughing, and crying more! I absolutely LOVE the photos and the kind words you wrote. I miss Aidan and Gwyn so much, these photos are the perfect thing to have on my wall to keep me happy until I see them again. Nate and I both have looked at them 15 times this morning. The look on Aidan's face is so sweet. Harper's chubby little cheeks and his look of surprise next to my favorite stove in the world is just awesome. The barefoot gwynnie at the screeching screen door is also a favorite. The ones of Harper and I are great too. I rarely see photos of myself that I enjoy - those I enjoy! I can't thank you enough and I am sure there will be more thank you's to come. WOW WOW WOW!
